Christmas Tree Poems for ChildrenBy Lee John Siebritz Everybody loves Christmas Young and Old Good and Bad Weak and Bold Playing in the snow Singing jingle bells and giggling in the snow And from the inside The smell of dinner that holds Throwing snowballs at each other With laughter and flutter Saying Merry Christmas to your neighbours Knowing that it is very rare during this time of seasons For people are not like they used to be Singing and playing around the christmas tree Caring and giving With pleasure, laughter and singing Christmas I believe is special for the young to see To laugh and dance with all the other kids Even when the sun burns out and there is no-one there Christmas I believe will be there right till the end For everybody To give light and To share. I'm Your Christmas Tree, All Brightly Lit Poem By Nicholas Gordon I'm your Christmas tree, all brightly lit, Hung with angels, colored balls, and elves. Underneath my boughs your presents sit, If you've behaved yourselves. Why must we wait till early Christmas morn To open up our brand-new games and toys? Why gifts for us the day that Christ was born If we're good girls and boys? Now listen to your Christmas tree: I'm wise In all the ways of faith that you must know. I'm here because of what I symbolize: Green through ice and snow. There is a world beyond what we can see Where, by grace of God, we can receive God's greatest gift: to live eternally, If only we believe. Eternal life is what God gave to you In sending down His son to live on Earth. This was His gift, so Santa brings gifts, too, To celebrate Christ's birth. The baby Jesus got gifts on this day Because, like any child, He loved to play. And so God wants to share this special joy With every girl and boy. Believe God loves you as your parents do, And takes great joy in giving gifts to you. Live well and love, and evergreen like me, You'll live eternally. The Christmas Tree Of all the trees in the woods and fields There's none like the Christmas tree; Tho' rich and rare is the fruit he yields, The strangest of trees is he. Some drink their fill from the shower or rill; No cooling draught needs he; Some bend and break when the storms awake, But they reach not the Christmas tree. When wintry winds thro' the forests sweep, And snow robes the leafless limb; When cold and still is the ice-bound deep, O this is the time for him. Beneath the dome of the sunny home, He stands with all his charms; 'Mid laugh and song from the youthful throng, As they gaze on his fruitful arms. There's golden fruit on the Christmas tree, And gems for the fair and gay; The lettered page for the mind bears he, And robes for the wintry day. And there are toys for the girls and boys; And eyes that years bedim Grow strangely bright, with a youthful light, As they pluck from the pendant limb. Gospel Tree There once was a shining Christmas tree Standing out where all could see. Its brilliance captured very eye And seemed to cheer each passer-by. "The lights are so bright", they would say And hesitate to walk away. The tree stood proud ablaze with light For every light was burning bright. Then one bulb was heard to say "I'm tired of burning night and day; I think I'11 just go out and rest For I'm too tired to do my best; Besides, I am so very small I doubt if I'd be missed at all." Then a child lovingly touched the light "Look, mother, this one shines so very bright. I think of all the lights upon the tree This one looks the best to me." "Oh my goodness," said the light "I almost dimmed right out of sight. I thought perhaps no one would care If I failed to shine my share." With that a glorious brilliance came For every light had felt-the same. Our Gospel, like this Christmas tree With little lights which are you and me We each have a space that we must fill With love, and lessons and good will. Let's keep our tree ablaze with light With testimonies burning bright. For our Gospel is a living tree That lights the way to eternity. |
